Canadian Shipments Decrease Double Digits in March
ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill
MSCI Metals Activity for the month of March 2025 indicates a mixed trend in steel and aluminum shipments across the US and Canada. In the United States, steel shipments were flat and aluminum declines continued, as compared to the same month in 2024. The slide in Canadian service center activity persisted with double digit decreases in steel and aluminum shipments over the same period.
U.S. Service Center Activity
U.S. service center steel shipments in March 2025 were +0.2% (seasonally adjusted) from March 2024. Shipments of aluminum products were -6.1% (seasonally adjusted) from the same month in 2024.
Canadian Service Center Activity
Canadian service center steel shipments in March 2025 were -16.8% (seasonally adjusted) from March 2024. Shipments of aluminum products were -12.8% (seasonally adjusted) from the same month in 2024.
