What memorable phrase or word will never be the same now that you served? Attention to detail.

What is something new you learned about yourself from serving? I learned that, in literally three months, you can reshape yourself into anything you want to become with just dedication and commitment.

How have you applied lessons in the military to your job/career? Yes, after I got out of the Marines, I pretty much adapted a lot of qualities into my job. Adapt to the situation, attention to detail, always move forward.

Do you have a favorite quote, mantra, or personal motto? No path is the wrong path; it’s just a different challenge that leads to the same outcome.

How can the metals industry do a better job connecting with veterans? Sometimes we forget how we get all these freedoms, so just remembering past and present veterans and their contributions is the best thing we can do to better connect. Not just on a month or day, but whenever we can.

Anything else that you would like to share regarding your experience? I woud say don’t be afraid to take that step, don’t be afraid to jump. You never know where a path will take you till you get to the end of it.

Thank you for your service, Ryan! Remember to share these stories on social media using #MSCIMetalVets and to join the Military Appreciation Month conversation on MSCI’s Community Forum.
