Global News Of Note: Chinese Steel Companies Increase Exports

- According to data from China’s General Administration of Customs, the country’s steel companies increased their exports by 21.3 percent between July 2024 and August 2024 and 14.7 percent between August 2023 and August 2024. For the first eight months of 2024, exports were up 26.0 percent from the same period the year before. At 70.58 million tons, the level of exports in August 2024 was the highest it had been since 2016. Steel imports into China rose 0.8 percent between July and August, but were down 20.4 percent year-over-year. Read more at this link.
