Steel Shipments Rise 1.2% in the U.S.
ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill

MSCI Metals Activity for the month of February 2025 indicates a mixed trend in steel and aluminum shipments across the US and Canada. In the United States, steel shipments saw a marginal increase for the first time since September 2024. Meanwhile, aluminum declines moderated compared to the same month in 2024. The slide in Canadian service center activity persisted—though to a lesser degree—with shipments decreasing in steel and aluminum over the same period.
U.S. Service Center Activity
U.S. service center steel shipments in February 2025 were +1.2% (seasonally adjusted) from February 2024. Shipments of aluminum products were -5.0% (seasonally adjusted) from the same month in 2024.
Canadian Service Center Activity
Canadian service center steel shipments in February 2025 were -7.6% (seasonally adjusted) from February 2024. Shipments of aluminum products were -10.6% (seasonally adjusted) from the same month in 2024.
