What happens abroad impacts MSCI members in North America. Here is the latest economic, trade, and other policy news of note for the last week:
- There was a lot of news regarding China’s unfair trade last week. To start, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) determined in its sunset review of the anti-dumping and countervailing duty orders on common alloy sheet from China. As a result, these orders will stay in through the summer of 2029. Read the ITC’s order at this link.
- As MetalMiner reported, India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry proposed imposing an anti-dumping duty on imports of Chinese aluminum foil. According to a foil market study by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies, Chinese imports have taken over at least 30 percent of India’s local market share despite there being enough domestic production of aluminum foil.
