More Vaccine Doses Coming In The United States
In a prime time television address on March 11, President Joe Biden promised that every American who wants a COVID-19 vaccine should be able to sign up by May 1, 2021 to receive a one.
To get shots into the arms of Americans, the federal government will:
- Increase the number of community health centers distributing shots in low-income neighborhoods and double the number of pharmacies giving out shots;
- Double the number of Federal Emergency Management Agency-run mass-vaccination sites;
- Authorize dentists, emergency workers, midwives, paramedics, veterinarians, medical students, and other professionals to administer vaccine shots; and
- Set up a federal website and call center that will help anyone in the country book a vaccination appointment.
Also last week: President Biden said that his administration will purchase an additional 100 million doses of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine.
