MSCI, National Association Of Manufacturers Pledge To Work To Strengthen Manufacturing, Heal Divides

The Metals Service Center Institute, the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), and more than 600 other trade associations signed a letter to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump arguing a strong manufacturing sector is critical to U.S. security and prosperity. The business leaders that signed the letter also pledged to help unite the country.

The NAM-led communication underscored the organizations’ collective to commitment to working with the next U.S. administration to create an environment where businesses and individuals can flourish. “[O]ur future is strongest when we are united. As business leaders, we have a unique responsibility to help bridge divides and advance our shared purpose,” the letter said. The signers stressed that manufacturers are willing to work with the next president and the U.S. Congress to do what is best for the United States’ nearly 13 million manufacturing workers and their communities, “who rely on our success.”

The letter concluded with a nod to history. “The days following a hard-fought election have always been a time for healing, finding common ground, and renewing our focus on what unites us as a people,” the business leaders noted. “The peaceful transition of power is a hallmark of our democracy and is essential to ensuring continued confidence in the rule of law — a commitment that has made America exceptional. As leaders of industries that drive America’s promise, you can count on us as steadfast partners in this work and in building our future together.”
