Cold drawing

Welded and hot-finished seamless tubing and pipe can be cold-drawn by pulling it over a mandrel.

Cold drawing results in

  • Closer tolerances
  • Greater strength and hardness
  • Better surface finish

Cold drawing enables production of seamless tubing and pipe with smaller O.D. and thinner walls than hot-finished tubing

Cold drawn tubing and pipe are often annealed to eliminate the strengthening effects of the cold working and improve ductility.
