3) Continuous casting

Molten metal is poured into a tundish and flows into a copper mold, where a skin solidifies on the steel.

As the metal continuous on it passes through sprayers which continue to cool the steel and the interior portions of the casting continue to solidify.

Final product: slabs, blooms, and billets.
