United States Could Consider Penalties On Imports Of Aluminum Extrusions

In one of the largest cases of its kind, on October 4, 2023, U.S. producers of aluminum extrusions filed petitions with the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) seeking antidumping duties on imports of aluminum extrusions from 14 countries — Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, India, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, China, South Korea, Taiwan, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam — and countervailing (CVD) duties on these product imports from China, Indonesia, Mexico, and Turkey.

Imports of aluminum extrusions from these countries totaled $3.19 billion in 2022.

As legal experts at Akin explain, merchandise subject to this investigation is aluminum extrusions, regardless of form, finishing, or fabrication, whether assembled with other parts or unassembled, whether coated, painted, anodized or thermally improved.
