	1. Aluminum oxide is dissolved at high temperature in concentrated caustic acid
	2. Temperature is reduced, particles are filtered out of the acid solution
	3. Waste, called red mud, is removed to isolated holding areas
	4. Particles are washed with water and dried
	5. Result is a fine white powder called Alumina
